Black-and-white image of a design studio. A desk lamp illuminates architectural models and drawings on a table. The background features a bulletin board with sketches of Stori Modern furniture designs, including patio chairs and geometric shapes.
A minimalist, modern art installation in a bright room complements the luxury outdoor furniture outside. Black metal frames form geometric shapes suspended in the air. A red panel and green carpet add color accents as large windows allow natural light to flood the white interior.

Site Li

Hailing from Shandong, China, Li attended the Beijing University of Technology, Art & Design before coming to the Cranbrook Academy of Art for his M.F.A. degree. And it’s these kinds of diverse cultural experiences that inspire him the most.

“I like travelling because I get to experience a lot of different things: different buildings, different music, different food, etc. As a designer, I like collecting different cultural experiences and try to embed them in design. I like to let the story behind decide the form of the design, making every design unique and narrative.”

The Fairy Tale collection that Li designed for Stori Modern was inspired by the classic look of traditional Chippendale furniture and the simplicity of modern metal tubing technique.

“I decided to combine them together, to make a modern version of Chippendale furniture collection, which is simpler, more cost effective and more durable.”

Site Li’s favorite stori is another classic: The Old Man and the Sea.

The image showcases the word Siimli in a cursive, flowing handwriting style on a plain white background, reminiscent of the elegance found in a Fairy Tale Collection.
Collage of design inspiration: sleek, modern kitchen with white cabinetry; three minimalist metal chair frames; a black metal-framed chair with a unique geometric design from Stori Modern; and two minimalist wire-frame chairs.
Three images: a decorative Chippendale chair with a crisscross design in front of floral wallpaper, a wooden gate with geometric patterns leading to an open patio, and another ornate chair beside a patterned vase and floral wallpaper. A true designer spotlight moment.
