Back to school season shouldn’t mark the end of outdoor entertaining. For some of us the weather is beginning to hint at fall, while for others (ahem, Dallasites) the heat is stubbornly continuing. Wherever you land on the weather continuum, a summer to fall brunch is a lovely way to celebrate the seasonal transition. Jillian from Rhyme & Reason is our inspiration for hosting the perfect summer to fall brunch, Stori Modern style. With a few simple ingredients, your brunch plans will be set in no time.
Choose the Blooms
There’s nothing quite like a beautiful flower arrangement to set a festive tone at your outdoor table. Select some of your favorite summer blooms at your local market while they’re still available and create a pretty, effortless centerpiece. We love how Jillian’s arrangement is gorgeous and eye-catching, but still short enough in height to allow for an easy flow of conversation. Take a look at some of our favorite tips for arranging flowers and have fun creating a visual welcome for your own summer to fall brunch.
Pour the Drinks
Spill the tea with your guests over cool, refreshing beverages. Whether you prefer to keep things simple with a pitcher of fresh juice, or you know anarchy will ensue unless a chilled bottle of Champagne is quickly uncorked, choose your drink menu based on what your guests will appreciate most and what will be easiest to mix. Aperol Spritz, Mimosas, Bellinis…you catch our drift, keep your brunch drinks to two ingredients or less and you’re golden.
Bake the Goods
If you love baking, whipping up some brunchtime goods will be your favorite part—bake away to your heart’s content. But if baking sounds anything but relaxing to you, stop by your local bakery and call it a day. You may even go as far as destroying any evidence of said baked goods purchase and silently accept the compliments as they come your way with a humble nod. Either way you slice it, an array of breakfast breads, pastries and treats will make for a sweet, satisfying brunch menu.
Set the Table
For your brunchtime outdoor table, our Journal 5 Piece Outdoor Dining Set creates the best backyard café vibes. Contemporary while still feeling classic, Journal features a powder coated iron frame and slats that are incredibly sturdy. The airy appearance of the modern patio set has an unexpected heft that makes its substantial weight a welcome surprise for the simple bistro style patio set. Available in a variety of colors, both in matte and pearl finishes, Journal brings that touch of something extra to outdoor dining plans. According to Jillian, she was “dreaming of a bistro style patio set and was so happy to find the perfect one—modern yet classic, sturdy so Maybelle can’t knock it over, and umbrella-friendly (there’s an umbrella hole!). We broke in the new set by having my parents over for a summer to fall brunch with our new Stori Modern patio furniture.”
Now we’re inspired to host our own summer to fall brunch. Cheers to simple, stylish outdoor entertaining!
