Summer is officially here, and we couldn’t be more excited if we tried! Since this summer may look a bit different than previous years, and many beach vacation getaways are being postponed as pandemic-friendly staycations are planned instead, there’s no better opportunity to level up your patio and prep for an epic summer at home. To help we’ve gathered seven ways to make your patio amazing this summer.
If you happen to have a fantastic outdoor space that’s currently made up of high-maintenance grass (or dirt), and you dream of having a clean outdoor surface but you don’t want to allot the high budget dollars to paving or building a patio deck, DIY patio pavers are an awesome choice. Ashley Brooke has a great guide detailing how she tackled her own DIY project. After cleaning your backyard space thoroughly, use a tamper to compact the soil before adding a weed mat. Then add concrete paver slabs and use pea gravel to fill in the spaces around the pavers for a clean, minimalist look. Voila, a paved patio!
Backyard Fire Pit
Does anything beat fireside s’mores during summer? If you don’t have a backyard fire pit yet, this is your time to shine. With a little digging, landscaping stone and some gravel, your DIY fire pit will look high-end while really being incredibly low budget. And now you’re ready to roast those marshmallows and get those summer s’mores going. Add a cold beer and it is officially summer in your backyard.
Make the most of even the smallest outdoor space with a patio garden. We love the idea of creating a small container garden, either with planter boxes affixed to your backyard fence, window boxes to frame your home or hanging planters to personalize your balcony barrier. Fill them with easy-to-grow herbs like mint and rosemary, or pretty flowers like petunias or begonias. Your simple new garden will make a beautiful impact.
Backyard String Lights
Make your backyard space feel cozy and welcoming by hanging outdoor string lights around your comfortable outdoor furniture. Just like when you bring a cool new lamp inside your home, lighting is also an easy way to transform your backyard into your new favorite spot to relax.
Grab a pillow and let’s afternoon-nap this out. Not only are pillows an essential part of getting comfy while lounging, they’re also a great way to inexpensively add texture, color and personality to your patio. We engineered our outdoor pillows specifically for the sun, the fun and the mischief that happens outside. These 20” x 20” indoor/outdoor throw pillows in Sunbrella® fabric are not only incredibly soft, they’re also made with 100% solution dyed acrylic which makes them resistant to hot temperatures, fading, stains and moisture. Our dense polyester fill holds its shape better and longer than most other outdoor pillows. They have a hidden zipper closure with a knife edge detail, because we firmly believe that love lives in the details, and they’re 100% made in America. So throw the pillows on the sofa and let’s get summer started.
Backyard Lounge Set
What’s summer without a great spot to lounge outside and (with sun protection) soak up those rays? Tabloid is one of our favorite collections for summer relaxation. Our Tabloid 6 Piece Outdoor Furniture Set is made from durable, all-weather synthetic wicker that’s been hand-woven around a tubular stainless steel frame. This super high-quality patio set includes acrylic Sunbrella® seat, back and bolster cushions that are fade- and mildew-resistant. The cushions for this luxury backyard set are removable, and the covers themselves are also removable for easy cleaning, so you won’t need to worry when sipping your favorite fruity summer cocktail. Available in both bright and neutral weave and fabric choices, the seating set includes two outdoor lounge chairs, two outdoor ottomans, an outdoor love seat and an outdoor coffee table to cover all outdoor relaxation scenarios.
Cheers to kicking off a happy, sunny and safe summer!
